What is CPgM1?

The Mastercam Certified Programmer Level 1 (CPgM1) is a rigorous set of practical tests that demonstrate a programmer’s ability to work effectively with CAM software, overcome common issues facing today’s shops, and produce high quality finished parts. Programmers completing the CPgM1 program carry with them a useful means of quickly proving their skill in an increasingly demanding industry.
The CPgM1 program was developed by a board made up of some of the most respected names in industrial CNC training. After developing definitions, standards, and tests that would apply across most industries, the board separated the certification into several components, each focusing on different aspect of manufacturing.

CPgM1 certification is the first of these components. Geared to 2D machining, it ensures a strong foundation in CNC knowledge. A complete CPgM1 prep kit is also available, delivering valuable tips and practical exercises for those wanting to take the test.
We will be announcing the next certification components in the coming months. These include 3D Machining, Rotary and Multi-axis, Turning, and 3D Design. We will also be releasing a Certification course for high schools.

End User Certification
Improve your marketability by becoming a Mastercam Certified User. By passing the Mastercam Certification Test, you prove your knowledge and expertise to your current or future employer.

Why do you need Mastercam Certification?
Achieving Certified Programmer Mill Level 1 (CPgM1) status means you have passed rigorous tests showing the depth and breadth of your CNC knowledge. CPgM1 certification proves your ability to program and cut quality parts.

"I have been in the trade for thirty-nine years, and have used Mastercam for the last ten years. Using Mastercam has helped me do very complex machining that I used to only be able to just dream of doing. I currently program, set up, and run a 5-axis milling machine to build complex prototype parts for the defense industry. I had my skills formally documented through the Mastercam Certification program to demonstrate to my company and to our customers the level of proficiency that I have achieved."
